Khatu Shyam Ji Mandir is located in the district of Sikar, Rajasthan, and is considered as one of the most important pilgrim destinations in the state. According to Hindu mythology, Khatu Shyam Ji is the manifestation of the son of Ghatotkacha, Barbarika. It is said that devotees who pronounce his name from the bottom of their hearts are blessed and have their troubles removed, if they do it with true piety.

Shyam Kund

These pictures were taken in summer of 2015. Usually you will find a little more water in the kund during winters. Legend has it, its the holy pond from where Sheesh (head) of Barbarik was found. Shyam Kund is walking distance from Khatushayam ji’s Mandir. To reach here, best ask the local shops for directions, otherwise you may miss the huge gate just in between shops.

Nearest railway station is Ringas Junction (IRCTC Code: RGS), and its about 18.5 KM away.  Reaching Khatu Shyam Ji from Ringas is easy, the moment you step out of railway station, you will find a large number of jeeps/taxis waiting for passengers. Both shared as well as private jeeps are available.
Nearest airport from Kahtushyam Temple is Jaipur International Airport, also known as Sanganeer airport. Khatu ji’s mandir is about 95 KM away from sanganeer airport.

Reaching from New Delhi

Shri Khatushyam ji mandir is about 270 KM away from Delhi.

Via Train

There are three trains available from Delhi to Ringas, Chetak Express runs seven days a week from Delhi Sarai Rohilla to Ringas.
Tran no: 12066 – Ajmer Jan Shatabdi runs only on Friday’s and Sundays from Hazrat Nizamuddin at 3.10 PM, however if you are in delhi its recomended you board this train from Delhi Cantt.
Third train is chandigarh – Bandra Terminus SF Express which runs on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Via Road

If you are coming from Delhi, best route is via NH8, you can refer to the map below for directions. It will take you about 4.5 to 5 hours to reach Kahtushyam Mandir from New Delhi.

Nearest railway station from Khatu Shyam temple is Ringas Junction. Only passenger trains ply from Jaipur to Ringas railway station. There are about 8 trains from Jaipur, having scheduled departure from jaipur railyway station at 4.40 AM, 6.05 AM, 7.45 AM, 10.10 AM, 13.30, 16.55, 18.50 & 20.15. Train journey takes about an hour and a half and the trains are mostly on time.

THE TEMPLE OF KHATU SHYAM JI, RAJASTHAN

Near the temple is a holy pond called the Shyam Kund. It is said that this is the point from where the head of Khatu Shyam Ji was retrieved. A popular belief among devotees is that a dip in this pond can cure a person from their ailments and bring them good health. With devotional fervour, people taking ritual dips in the pond are not an uncommon sight. It is also believed that bathing at the Shyam Kund during the Phalguna Mela Festival, which is held every year, is especially salutary.

There are 5 aartis that are performed daily at the Khatu Shyam Ji mandir. The devotional ambiance and the serenity brought forth by the chanting and the aarti is incomparable, and if you were to plan a visit to this beautiful temple, you should try to attend one of these aartis.
Mangala Aarti: This is performed early in the morning when the temple opens its gates to the devotees.
Shringaar Aarti: As the name suggests, this is the time when the Khatu Shyam Ji’s idol is grandly ornamented, accompanied by an aarti.
Bhog Aarti: The third aarti of the day, it is performed at noon when bhog or prasadam is served to the lord.
Sandhya Aarti: This aarti is performed in the evening, at the time of the sunset.
Sayana Aarti: Before the temple is closed for the night, sayana aarti is performed.
There are two special hymns that are chanted at all these times. These are the Shri Shyam Aarti and the Shri Shyam Vinati.
